What are we? Is it wrong to call ourselves disciples of Christ, ones who know and love Jesus deeply and intimately, or are we what the world calls Christians? people who just go to Church and participate in Church activities? Or what?

"The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life - only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accourd. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again." John 10:17-18

As children of God, we have many names. We are Saints (that's where Catholics get that), disciples, Christians, children of God, Christ's brothers and sisters, etc. Really, I think it's up to you what you call yourself.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight,O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

I forget exactly where i read it. but somewhere i read some big long rant about how we aren't Christians, (meaning Christ-like) but disciples (followers of Christ.) Because we aren't like Christ, as hard as we might try. We simply follow him, and TRY to be like him.

That's just been something in the back of my mind lately. An interesting way to look at it.

'"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."'

Actually, we are Christ-like because we're made in the image of Christ. Right?

Hm. True. I'm kind of confused now.

'"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."'

That's the "smartalec" way of saying things though. I would say that we are simply disciples of Christ who aim to be Christians.

Let's go with that.

'"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."'
Jeremiah 29:11
