I believe that is it one of those areas where you need to use discretion. If you believe that God is convicting you to stay away from it, then by all means do so. For myself, I think it's fine because I understand that it is wrong and could never happen. For other people, they may be tempted to fall into sin by trying these "magical" things and believing that they are real. It's really between you and God.

NAAAAAAAAA it is ok I like magic too but for entertainment purpose not anything like that. Besides there is a girl at my church who is a big Harry Potter fan. The Chronicles of Narnia that is a magical book and it is based for Christian use.
Like Asalan for example he is like Jesus. The snow queen is like Lucifer ( the Devil). And the war is like the battle between good and evil so its ok.

I haven't read this, but it might prove to be a good book for you to read:

It's called the Gospel According to Harry Potter

I think that Harry Potter is freaking awesome, but I know that for a lot of people it can influence badly, so always be careful when you read those.  That isn't just for yourself it is also for the people around you.

I hurt a friend because I read many books on things like magic and witchcraft without thinking anything of it, and she actually became Wiccan after following suit and reading them also.

Generally, they're okay. This is the way that I view most iffy things:

If the Bible is not SPECIFICALLY against it AND you know that it isn't going to cause you to stumble, go ahead and try it. Ask your parents or best friends if they see a change in you after a few days of reading or doing whatever the thing is. If they don't and you don't think it's a problem, it's probably okay to keep doing it.

No, but I have read the Truecolors series by her. Why don't we move this conversation into a new topic? That way, people won't think it's just about Harry Potter and skip over it.

I actually skipped over it cause I'm not into Harry Potter whatsoever but today I decided to come back to this topic. Ok, so from what my past teachers and ppls in my church have told me is that Harry Potter is not good for Christians. And that's what I know so I guess I also believe it too.

I agree that it's not good for most Christians because it might make them think of things in the wrong light. But for other Christians, I think it's fine. I don't think it really causes any problems for me...but that's just my viewpoint.

I think Harry Potters no different from any other fantasy book. You have to take precaution in making sure that you're reading for entertainment purposes only, and not fall into any sort of sinful behavior. As long as you do that though, in my opinion, you're set. Harry Potter just sort of sparks my imagination. Being a fiction writer, I love to read that kind of stuff!

Anyone have any idea when the new movie and last book are coming out??

i personally think that Harry Potter is something to stay away from, but that's just my opinion. it seems a bit too scary and weird for my taste.
